Adding New Publication

To add new publication record give Menu Command Publication Record. A window will be displayed for Publication Record Entry. To add new publication Record press command button Add Record . The various data field of the publication record will become empty so that you can enter a new record and heading of this command button will be changed as Update Record .
The various details about the Publication as name, code, Frequency (publication interval in days, weekly 7 days etc.) , first issue publication date etc. can be typed in the text boxes which are labeled accordingly. The Circulation Discount Account will be used in creating the circulation bills for this publication / newspaper. These data fields or text boxes are bound to the Data Control linked to publication information database. As you will click one of the four buttons on the data control you will see the text displayed in the bound text boxes change accordingly.
When you filled in the publication details you should specify its editions. Press tab marked Editions to fill in edition details. Fill in the code of the edition, its name and other details. Click another row in grid or move to another row by cursor. Pencil shaped icon which indicates that the record is being edited is changed to blank when the record is saved. You do not need to fill in the publication details. They will be set to the current publication when you save the record.
Once you have set up the editions then you have to set up the daily details like pages , rate, length, width etc. on each day. These details will be used in Circulation and advertisement modules. To set up details of the edition first select it in Editions Grid , the database grid containing edition name showing on top. Then start typing in the editions details for each of the edition in the Edition Details grid below. Save the record by clicking to another row or by moving the cursor. The edition name will be filled in for you as selected in Editions Grid .
In the same way you must define the circulation holidays for each of the edition. This process is to be done only once.
To move from one text box / field to another use Tab and Shift Tab keys help you to move upward direction on the keyboard or use mouse.
When you have finished entering the record then press command button Update. A message will be displayed " Do You Want to Save The Current Record ?", press lquote Yes' to save the entered record or press No to abort. You can enter another record or do something else. To save your record automatically Tick check box Save All Changes Automatically.
To add another record again press command button Add and follow the above steps. To close publication record press command button Close.
