Setting up Opening Balances Setting Up Opening Balances, Accounts Module

Opening Balances are the debit or credit balance of an account at the beginning or start of accounting period. The opening balance is the first entry in the ledger account of each account head.
Start up the Set up Accounts menu command. You can enter the opening balance at the time of creating or an account head or you can later on edit the account head info and enter new opening balance. In either case you must press the command Set Open Balance . This will actually create the month balance table for each account if it does not exist and make the opening balance entry in the ledger. This is a one time process at the time of opening a new account head or after editing the opening balance of the account head. You will see a status box displaying the progress of updation of ledger. If the ledger is up to date then no changes will be made while using this command.
