In any business, perhaps, the largest number of transactions are involving cash or bank. Cash book is separate book of accounts where all cash transactions are recorded. In Cash book the cash transactions are recorded date wise in order of occurrence. In computerised accounting no entries are made directly in cash book and the cash book can be prepared any time using the Cash account in ledger. Cash balance on any day can be ascertained by balancing both debit and credit side which is done automatically when the cash book is displayed. The format of cash book here is single column as the bank book is maintained separately.
To display Cash Book give Menu Command Cash Book . Cash Book window will be displayed. By default the cash book is displayed for the current day. This current day is displayed in the frame marked period.
Press the option button List All to display the cash book for selected period .
Any period can be selected for displaying cash book of that period. To select period press option button Date . Enter the two dates in the text boxes which will be displayed, for help refer Period Selection
Press command button OK . The cash book of selected period will be displayed.

Cash Book can be consolidated day wise. If you do so then transactions having same debit or credit account head during the day will be consolidated and only the total will be displayed against that account head and the vouchers numbers will appear in the narration. For example all your cash sales of the day will be consolidated with all the invoice numbers showing in the narration. To display consolidated cash book check ( X ) the check box marked consolidate day wise and then press the option button List All . The consolidated cash book will be displayed. To display Daily Cash Balances check ( X ) the check box marked Day Cash Balances and then press the option button List All . The Daily opening / closing cash balances along with the transactions of the day will be displayed for the selected period.
To display Cash Book in wide format (i.e. showing debit and credit on two different sides check ( X ) the check box marked Display Wide Format and then press the option button List All . The cash book showing different debit / credit sides will be displayed for the selected period.
Cash Book entries can also be sorted by Particulars or Amount. Check ( X ) the appropriate check box and then press the option button List All . The cash book with entries sorted according to particulars or amount will be displayed. Sorting will be done in ascending order.
If you want to see the narrations along with each cash book entry then check ( X ) the check box marked Show Narrations and then press the option button List All . The cash book along with the narration for each entry will be displayed.
To close this option list click command button Close Option Frame .
If you press enter key or double click after selecting a cash book entry then the concerned voucher /invoice/ memo will be opened for review if you answer yes to the message which will be displayed. This windows will open when you press enter key or double click with the mouse on the grid.
